Hi everyone, I am McKenna for all of you that do not know me. As you know, I am freshmen at Union Catholic, and already I feel like I have been in Union Catholic for years! Everyone is so , open and welcoming. I could have never pictured myself anywhere else. I am so happy I chose to go here, actually I have a little story behind my decision. My brother is a senior at Union Catholic and his name is Connor, so of course he was one of my main reasons of going here, but I decided to go to the open house, and just reaffirm my decision. After my tour around the school, and all the other exciting things were done, it was time to go. As I got into my car and my mom turned on the radio, the song "Home" by Chris Daughertry, came on. I know this might sound a little odd, but I took it as a sign, that this would now be my second home, in the next four chapters of my life! So far, I do not regret it for one minute. If you are having any trouble with making decisions for your high school, I recommended that you take time to visit each school and just see if you can picture yourself there, but i think the most important thing for you to do is pray to St. Anthony, who is know for helping people find their lost belongings, or help making the right decision. Speaking of praying, at Union Catholic, we definitely base or lives around God. We pray every time we enter each class and we are encouraged by Sr. Percylee, the principal, "to be all God calls us to be". God is a huge part of my life and He always will be.
Now, back to my first month, last Friday was our first dance! We all just danced the night away! Everyone was really hot, but that didn't stop anyone from having a good time. I know so many kids from our freshmen class that came to have a great night with all their friends, and had a ball! I for sure did!
Friends are for sure a huge part of my life. I actually had to leave my best friend since I was three, when i choose to go to UC. We have been together for all our lives till now . She went to Bishop George Ahr and of course I went to Union Catholic. It is very hard for us, but still we communicate each day by writing letters to each other, then using the phone and raising the bill since, we would talk for hours. Haha. However we both new that each of the schools we choose were for the best, and we still would be best friends for life. Anyway, at Union Catholic, I have almost made friends with everyone in my grade! We have grown so close in the last month, and are really becoming part of the UC family. Especially being freshmen, its a little difficult, but really all the rumors you hear about all the upper class men picking on the new kids, and all that good stuff, really is not true! All the upper class men are very kind and helpful! I know that from having a big sister, which is a program at UC. This program is when a teacher pairs a new freshmen with an upper class men that has similar qualities and hobbies, as the freshmen. Gina , is my big sister, and she is the captain of the soccer team. I play soccer, and am on the Junior varsity squad. This is so much fun because we have an awesome team, and really enjoy playing soccer with each other! We have a great time on and off the field! WE ARE SO CLOSE!! I have enjoyed doing a fall sport because it really helped easy the anxiety of going to a high school, where I did not know anyone. I really encourage, that kids going into high school, play or do a fall activity, because you get to meet people before you go into school and you don't have to be nervous about being alone. Well I hope you had a good time reading about me and my many adventures at Union Catholic and believe me there will be many more to come! Talk to you soon!
